Working together to prevent female genital mutilation in the EU

A new report published by the European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE) analyses current legal and policy frameworks in the EU Member States, existing approaches to national FGM risk estimations in the EU and their methodological background.

It presents quantitative and qualitative data analysis, including that of various focus groups, and carries out a comparative analysis of the selected Member States.

The research highlights that strategies preventing female genital mutilation in the EU are effective and their success depends on cooperation between governments and the communities involved.
