The Athens Debate: “This House believes the EU should prioritize stability over exporting democracy in foreign policy.”
Το Ίδρυμα Anna Lindh και το Κέντρο Ευρωπαϊκής Πληροφόρησης στο Ελληνικό Ίδρυμα Ευρωπαϊκής και Εξωτερικής Πολιτικής (Europe Direct ΕΛΙΑΜΕΠ), σε συνεργασία με το ελληνικό δίκτυο του Ιδρύματος Anna Lindh, και τη Λέσχη debating της Νομικής Σχολής Αθηνών, θα παρουσιάσουν το υποστηριζόμενο από την Ε.Ε. πρόγραμμα Young Mediterranean Voices, με την διοργάνωση ενός debate,με θέμα τις προτεραιότητες της εξωτερικής πολιτικής της Ε.Ε. Η εκδήλωση αυτή γίνεται με την ευκαιρία της Ημέρας της Ευρώπης και πραγματοποιείται χάριν της ευγενούς φιλοξενίας του Διεθνούς Κέντρου Ελληνικών και Μεσογειακών Σπουδών (ΔΙΚΕΜΕΣ) στη στέγη του.
Τέσσερις νέοι debaters, από την Ελλάδα, την Γαλλία και την Τυνησία, με την χρήση σχετικών με το θέμα πληροφοριών και επιχειρημάτων, θα διασταυρώσουν τον λόγο τους, σχετικά με το αν η Ε.Ε., στην εξωτερική της πολιτική θα όφειλε να δίνει προτεραιότητα στην σταθερότητα της περιοχής μας και όχι στην προώθηση του εκδημοκρατισμού. Με την συμμετοχή και του κοινού, και μέσα από έναν εποικοδομητικό διάλογο, επιθυμούμε να προσφέρουν την ευκαιρία στο κοινό να διαμορφώσει την δική του άποψη για το θέμα, μια άποψη που θα είναι το αποτέλεσμα τεκμηριωμένου διαλόγου και επιχειρηματολογίας και όχι ιδεολογικών αγκυλώσεων και προκαταλήψεων.

The agenda is structured around the Young Mediterranean Voices debate model:
-18.30: Registration and initial voting (attendees vote on the motion topic as they arrive).
-19.00: Introduction and welcome by the head of the Greek National Network of the Anna Lindh Foundation.
-19.05: Presentation of ‘Young Mediterranean Voices’ by ALF Representative
-19.15: Start of debate. Moderator provides debate rules and structure.
-19.20: Opening remarks. Debaters present their opening remarks one at a time (5’ each).
-19.40: Intra-Panel Discussion. Debaters engage with one another directly. The discussion is guided by arguments from opening statements and questions from the moderator.
-20.00: Q&A. Audience members have the opportunity to ask the debaters questions regarding the motion and gain further clarification on each side’s arguments.
-20.20: Closing Remarks (4 minutes, 2 minutes per team): Debaters deliver separate 2-minute closing arguments.
-20.25: Final voting and results.
-20.30: Light Reception.
The Young Mediterranean Voices (https://www.annalindhfoundation.org/young-mediterranean-voices-0) is the flagship debate and Dialogue programme connecting civil society, education and policy-makers across the southern Mediterranean and Europe. The programme provides a pioneering platform to open doors for young influencers to shape policy and media narratives. It is grounded on the positive experience of Young Arab Voices launched in 2011 by the Anna Lindh Foundation and British Council and it is supported by the European Union.
