The Hellenic Observatory will host its 10th PhD Symposium on Contemporary Greece and Cyprus on Friday 26 May 2023. In line with the Hellenic Observatory’s mission, the core objective of the PhD symposium is to facilitate the exchange of knowledge between young researchers and to promote innovative and cutting-edge research on political, social and economic issues in Greece and Cyprus. The Symposium will bring together international PhD research from across the globe covering a broad range of fields within the social sciences. Students whose research is linked by the regional and national thematic focus on contemporary Greece and Cyprus will have the opportunity to present their work and receive critiques and feedback from an interdisciplinary audience comprising peers and experts.

For the 10th PhD Symposium, we welcome contributions from research students across any field of Social Sciences whose thesis focuses explicitly on contemporary Greece and/or Cyprus. The broad research areas covered in the Symposium include (but are not limited to):

-Business and Management

-Culture and Identity

-Economic Policy (including labour market, pensions, minimum wage, industrial and regional policies)

-Economic Challenges and Performance (including macro/microeconomics and finance)

-Foreign Policy and External Relations (including the role of the EU)

-Geography and the Environment

-The role of the Media

-Migration and Minorities

-Public Policymaking and Processes

-Politics, Governance and Society

-Social Psychology

-Social Policy (including social welfare and provision, health, education, criminal justice, social integration)

The closing date for receipt of the ‘Abstract Submission Form’ and the ‘CV Template Form’ is 24:00 (UK Time) on 27 February 2023.

 

All selected papers will receive scholarships for travel & accommodation expenses
