Who we are.

T Guide is an initiative of Mi Guia Srl, an innovative start-up founded by five women with distinct skills related to the production, management and dissemination of the live arts. Together with a group of IT professionals and artists, we have studied the needs of the professional performing arts sector and developed a theater promotion ecosystem that integrates audiences and professionals into one smart database. We collect data of shows scheduled in the past 3 years and, of those that are currently on stage, activate a selection and promotion on potential spectators.

The project.

T Guide (in the form of a database-powered APP) was officially presented at Mercartes, the most important biennial performing arts fair in the Ibero-American world. We have an up-to-date cultural agenda on Madrid thanks to the collaboration of Revista Godot (revistagodot.com, our strategic content provider in Madrid), which has provided us with a database of the last 3 years of 5,000 performances that it updates daily. We are integrating the catalog of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, among the most important independent theater festivals at the European level during the month of August. We have activated collaborations with Spanish institutions (public such as Red de Teatros and private such as Teatro Accesible) and an automatic data integration mechanism via API that facilitates updating and potentially enables the visibility of a very large number of cultural agendas/events/spaces and promoted territories.

We believe that the live performance experience changes lives and that is why we work, to make it more accessible. We want to disrupt box office-related paradigms and give a privileged virtual place of promotion and visibility to emerging and established theater outside the noise of social networks. We want to increase the consumption of performing arts, making it easier for casual viewers, young Europeans and cultural travelers to choose, by having them find a European, inclusive, unprecedented, accessible cultural agenda. That’s why we are not a ticket office, thus including all the circuits that we think are akin to the audiences we dialogue with.

What do we want to achieve with European funding?

We want to investigate the conditions of how, when and why over-titled (captioned) theater proves to be a useful tool in the study of a foreign language for foreign students who travel to the country to study the language as well as a live cultural experience that breaks down cultural barriers for foreign students in the area.

The project focuses on the preliminary steps of Investigating, defining, testing, and measuring the conditions for transforming an existing tool (captioned theater) created for hearing impaired people with the purpose of fostering accessibility in favor of expanding the concept to cultural accessibility/inclusion.

We want to generate a case study, with tests to measure the impact of the action and create conditions for applying the methodology to other national contexts.

Possible programs:

EU CREATIVE EUROPE CULTURE STRAND, DIGITAL EU, ERASMUS+

Types of partners:

experts in foreign language learning with unconventional tools; national cultural institutes; cultural institutions (theaters, festivals); technology experts in live captioned theater solutions, university professionals bringing a theoretical/practical model to measure the effect of captioned theater on learning.
