Europe Direct ELIAMEP Photography Contest 2019: “Our Europe: Common Roots, Common Future”

On the occasion of Europe Day 2019 (9th of May), the Europe Direct Information Centre hosted at ELIAMEP (EDIC ELIAMEP) is organizing a photography contest titled: “Our Europe: Common Roots, Common Future”.

The contest is open to all photography enthusiasts; all they need is a camera and an abundance of imagination!

Greek citizens who live in other EU countries, as well as EU citizens who live in Greece, can apply. Participants should depict elements (locations, objects, events etc.) in their host country that remind them of their home.

Each participant can send one (1) (colored or black-and-white) photograph to the e-mail address: [email protected] until the 8th of May. The picture must be in .jpg or .gif format and must be named after the participant’s surname. Please mention the reference “Photography Contest 2019” in the e-mail subject.

After the 8th of May we will simultaneously upload all the photographs on our Facebook page, in an album entitled “EDIC ELIAMEP Photography Contest 2019”.

Voting for the best picture will then begin and will last from the 9th of May (Europe Day ) until the 23rd of May. The winning photograph will be announced on the 24th of May, to commemorate the 2019 European Parliament elections! Share the photographs and let your friends now, by using the hashtag: #EDICELIAMEP_Photo.

The winning photograph will be the one that receives the most “likes” on Facebook. The prize will be a tablet valued at 200 Euros.

Terms and conditions:

– Who can apply:

1) Any Greek citizen living in one of the 28 EU countries and any EU citizen living in Greece

2) All applicants must be over 18 years of age

– Each participant can only send one (1) photograph

– The photographs must be of high resolution, in .jpg or .gif format

– If persons are depicted in the photograph, the applicant must have obtained their written consent (the applicant must send the completed consent form that you can download here- Photo Release Form for every person depicted, along with the photograph)

– All posted photographs must solely belong to the sender/participant and must not violate any intellectual property provisions. All participants will retain the intellectual property rights of their photographs. However, they must agree to the legal terms that apply when posting material on Facebook. (https://www.facebook.com/terms.php).

– All participants agree to the reproduction and use of their photographs by the organizers of the contest.

– The use of filters that are available on apps and/or cameras are allowed, but special effects, photographs created using a computer, and heavily altered photographs must be avoided.

– Photographs that include abusive remarks or offend public decency, will be automatically disqualified from the contest.

– The organizers bare no responsibility for any accident, loss, direct or indirect damage caused to the participants in the context of the contest.

– By entering the contest, the participants accept the said terms and conditions.

 

The photograph that gathers the most “likes” between the day that the photographs are posted on Facebook (9th of May) and the final day of voting(23rd of May) will be the winner. The results of the contest will be announced on the EDIC’s Facebook page on Friday the 24th of May.
