Wednesday 28 – Thursday 29 September: Digital Assembly in Bratislava
The news:
More than 750 European researchers, investors and policy makers will gather in Bratislava, Slovakia, on 28 and 29 September for the 2016 Digital Assembly (#DA16eu) to discuss the creation of a Digital Single Market in the EU.
The background:
The Assembly will feature key initiatives and topics related to the Digital Single Market (DSM) strategy presented in May 2015, among which:
–Digitising European Industry – Reaping the full benefits of a DSM;
–E-Commerce and Online Platforms;
–Improving access to content in the DSM;
–Connected and Automated Driving;
–Internet of Things and ePrivacy;
The event:
The Digital Assembly is organised by the European Commission in cooperation with the Slovak Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
The opening remarks will be delivered by the Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic Robert Fico and conference keynote speakers include:
Andrus Ansip, Commission Vice-President for the Digital Single Market
Gunther Oettinger, Commissioner for the Digital Economy and Society
Peter Pellegrini, Deputy Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic
Maja Pantic, Professor of Affective and Behavioral Computing and leader of the iBUG group,European Research Council grantee, Imperial College London
Juraj Vaculik, CEO Aeromobil
Grainne Dwyer, CEO Ludgate Ireland
Press activities:
28 September at 17.30: Press briefing with experts working on the initiatives of the Digital Single Market strategy (cf. above).
29 September at 11.00: Press conference with Deputy Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic Peter Pellegrini and Vice-President Andrus Ansip// at 14.40: Press briefing with Commissioner Oettinger.
After his keynote speech on 29 September, Commissioner Oettinger will receive recommendations from representatives of the startup community.
